I make sculpture and drawings that tap a non-verbal physiological landscape of body and space, provoking emotional, visceral and perceptual responses. I work with an expanded definition of drawing languages, and am influencing the resurgence of drawing in contemporary art.
My work has been in solo and group exhibitions at such places as The Drawing Center (NYC), Tegnerforbundet (Norway), SESC Bom Retiro (Sao Paulo), Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit Institute of Art, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Cranbrook Art Museum, Nevada Museum of Art, Spencer Museum of Art, and Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, among many others. My work is held in collections of the Nevada Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Art, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Spencer Museum of Art, Collection of Howard & Cindy Rachofsky, Niwako Kimono Company, US Sprint Corporation, H&R Block, University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Missouri Bank & Trust, American Century Investments, Hewlett Packard and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and others.
In 2016 and 2016, my work is included in exhibitions at the Akron Art Museum, Josee Bienvenu Gallery (NYC), Schick Art Gallery at Skidmore College, September Gallery, and Cynthia Reeves Gallery (NH), the Omi International Art Center, Haw Contemporary, and upcoming Fall 2017 at Carrie Secrist Gallery called walking as I stand. The Springfield Art Museum acquired a large installation called tilted sky for their permanent collection, and I installed a large permanent installation at the Aeration Hotel in Nashville, spring 2017. In 2015 my work was included in a group show called Ley Lines at the University of Wyoming Art Museum, a showing of a monumental drawing called drawn below at Carrie Secrist Gallery, a group show at Haw Contemporary, and a solo exhibition shift/lens at The Mattress Factory. My work has also recently been in exhibitions at the US Embassy in Rangoon, Burma, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and in Unmade: Anne Lindberg & Saskia Olde Wolbers at the Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati.
I recently completed a major public art commission for the GSA Art in Architecture program at the Richard Bolling Federal Building in Kansas City and a large commission at Rockhurst University. My work is shown regularly at Carrie Secrist Gallery (Chicago) and Haw Contemporary (Kansas City), and has been shown at Josee Bienvenu Gallery (NYC), Masters & Pelavin Gallery (New York City) and Pentimenti Gallery (Philadelphia).
I am the recipient of awards including a 2011 Painters & Sculptors Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, a Charlotte Street Foundation Fellowship, two ArtsKC Fund Inspiration Grants, a Lighton International Artists Exchange grant, the Art Omi International Artists Residency, an American Institute of Architects Allied Arts and Crafts award, and a Mid-America National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. I hold a BFA from Miami University (1985), and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art (1988). My studio is in Ancramdale, New York.
